Education St. Joseph Primary, Sliema Liceo, Subien, Hamrun Work Experience Actor Stage, Radio and Television Renato’s first encounter with the theatre took place in 1975, when at the tender age of 15 (sigh!) he joined a local youth-theatre group and since then he has been literally hooked, good and proper. He graduated from MTADA and has been actively involved with the stage for the past thirty years. He has worked with various leading theatre companies in Malta as well as various fringe and street theatres. He has survived countless pantos in English and several in Maltese as well as various Greek plays. He formed part of the original YADA in its first production, ‘Guardian of the Light’ in 1985 and went on to dance in another 10 productions with the company including Moulin Rouge (Toulouse Lautrec) and Christus (the apostle Thomas) and Strait Street. He has taken part in musicals including Oliver, Annie ,1565 (Masquerade) and Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (MADC). He sang in Voices and other choirs, co-scripted radio programmes and has also done film dubbing voice-overs. Renato has also taken on main parts in the television serials Il-Pesta 1883 (TVM), F’ San Valentino (Net), Simpatici (Super 1) and episodes of Delitti Maltin. Renato has directed plays for the MADC at the Clubrooms as well as for the Manoel Theatre and later adapted and directed them for television. |
